A fun walk of Rockmarshall Mountain, organised by Protect Rockmarshall Mountain Group will take place on Sunday July 15th

It starts at 3pm from the car park of Fitzgerald’s Restaurant and will return there for a BBQ

The organisers, the Protect Rockmarshall Mountain Group, are raising much needed funds towards the cost of their submissions objecting to the development of a wind farm at Rockmarshall, which were made both to Louth County Council and an Bord Pleanala. The Group has had to engage a number of specialist consultants to examine the detailed documents submitted by the applicant, Gaelectric Developments Ltd. Louth County Council refused planning permission but the applicant has appealed this decision to An Bord Pleanala. The specialist consultants have confirmed in their detailed technical reports that the Group’s concerns in relation to the turbine size, their impact on the homes of local residents, their impact on the landscape, the extent of shadow flicker and other concerns, have been well founded. They cast serious doubt over related submissions made by the applicant.

This has been an expensive process and local residents and businesses have to date contributed a significant amount of money which has covered a major part of the costs incurred. The purpose of this “Fun Walk” is to help cover the balance of the costs incurred.

Tickets which cover the walk and the barbeque cost €10 per person (children free) and can be purchased from John Collins (087 7821918) and in advance or on the day at Fitzpatrick’s Restaurant.
