CASTLETON, Vt. –
Castleton is taking a stand against a proposed wind farm in Rutland County.
According to the Rutland Herald, the town’s selectboard voted last night to oppose the Grandpa’s Knob wind project.
Reunion Power of Manchester wants to build 20 turbines on the ridgeline.
The state has already expressed concerns about the $100 million project, including the number of rare species and natural communities in the area targeted for construction.
But Castleton is the first community to formally oppose the project.
