Wind turbine plan in Allegheny Township

www.endeavornews.com 2 June 2012

Six years have passed since controversy raged in northern Potter County over proposals to build dozens of industrial wind turbines on rural farmland.

After years of dormancy, the issue is once again front and center.

Invenergy, one of the nation’s more active wind energy companies, has been negotiating a deal with the Allegany Township Board of Supervisors to build a string of 400-foot-plus turbines to generate electricity on high-altitude private properties.

Supervisors Kevin Wright, Helen Turner and Dan Cowburn announced this week that they plan to execute a “host community agreement” with Invenergy (Potter Wind Energy LLC) during a public meeting scheduled for 6 pm Wednesday, June 6, at the township building in Colesburg.

Meanwhile, international energy giant AES Corporation has not yet moved forward on a plan announced in 2010 to build 55 turbines in Ulysses Township.
