A Largs campaigner against wind farms has accused local operator RES of not being generous to the local communities.
Mr Freddie Moran, in a letter to the Largs & Millport Weekly News, stated:
“We are getting nothing from their “generosity”, except being ripped off by their great “wind scam”.
“Considering each of the 15,000 homes in North Ayrshire are today paying an additional £30 per year “wind scam” tax in their electricity bills, a grand total of £450,000 per year to RES / Lord Kelburn, it is really “generous” of them giving us back 10% as a “gift”.
He was replying to a story that RES is to give £44,000 to local good causes this summer through the voluntary Kelburn Wind Farm trust, chaired by local editor Drew Cochrane.
