Wind farms not the way for greener energy

www.saukvalley.com 19 May 2012

What saddens me is that, for years, our loved ones, now gone, devoted everything they had to saving and protecting. Through many fights and struggles, they worked to preserve the wonders of earth in each area surrounding them for us to enjoy.

Along that long road, their reward was the values for the land and its beauty. They bestowed those values for us to continue for our own to cherish when we are just a memory – now ruined by those few who let the green of money fog their right state of mind.

If I could take a few of those people for a learning trip through time, could they, or would they, be able to right themselves to see the beauty they destroyed? I only hope I can show my grandchildren these places before they are blown away by stupidity.

People of Lee County should know they have documented 221 blade failures that have thrown blade parts up to 4,265 feet, sticking in roofs and through walls of homes (www.caithnesswindfarms.co.uk/accidents.pdf). Pro-wind people think that this is OK for others to live near. Would you live 1,400 feet from a 500-foot spinning roulette wheel?

They say people all over the world are faking sickness. Is this healthy for our children? Wind plant workers who post comments are all misinformed with tactics used all over the world to sell a product – no different than snake oil, it’s the cure-all. No, it’s their job without concern for others.

Shouldn’t we be investing in renewable energies that will work and cost less? Visit us on Facebook, “Say no to wind farms,” and look and learn from those all over the world. Collect the information, research by universities and scientific studies, that should have been done before we leaped.

There is a greener way, and wind is not it.
