Wind farm protesters hold coffee morning in Stretton

Rutland Times, www.rutland-times.co.uk 8 May 2012

People turned out to show their support to an action group which is protesting against plans for a wind farm.

A Say No To Woolfox Wind Farm coffee morning was held at The Old School in Stretton on Saturday.

Dr Colin Ashpole, of the action group committee, spoke to members of the public about the plans and answered questions.

The group object to SSE Renewables, which has been given permission to install a temporary mast near the Woolfox airfield, which will be in place for up to two years before the company decides whether a plan for 22 130m high wind turbines is viable.

The group also held a raffle and sold plants, books, teas and cakes to raise additional funds.

Action group member Julian Lessey said: “It was a very good morning and went extremely well.

“We had a good turnout and there were very high levels of co-operation and unity from the public.”
