Wind turbine protest attracts big crowd on the border

Yesterday afternoon about 200 people from both sides of the Canada-US border crowded the area in front of the Haskell Free Library, which straddles the international boundary in Stanstead and Derby Line. The gathering was to protest the installation of two 130-metre (425-foot) industrial wind turbines in Derby Line, on properties situated not far from a quiet residential neighbourhood on the Canadian side of the line.
On hand for the protest were members of the media, politicians and invited guests, including Dr. Bob McMurtry, an orthopaedic surgeon, and founding Assistant Deputy Minister of the Population and Public Health Branch of Health Canada.
