DERBY LINE – Two world-renowned speakers will address protesters at the anti–Derby Line Wind Project rally in Derby Line, VT/Stanstead, QC, this Sunday.

Mark Duchamp will appear in person to talk about the impact of wind turbines on endangered bird populations.

Duchamp is the executive director of the European Platform Against Windfarms (http://www.epaw.org/about_us.php?lang=en), president of Save the Eagles International (http://savetheeaglesinternational.org/), and chairman of the World Council for Nature (http://wcfn.org/).

Dr. Robert McMurtry (Professor of Surgery at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Western Ontario and Orthopedic Consultant at St. Josephs Health Care in London, Ontario) will be talking and answering questions via Skype about the health effects of wind turbines.

Dr. McMurtry recently embraced the belief that “wind turbine syndrome,” a spectrum of nonspecific health complaints alleged to be due to sounds or vibrations from wind turbines, exists.

In 1999, Dr. McMurtry became the first Cameron Visiting Chair at Health Canada – a post carrying the responsibility for providing policy advice to the Deputy Minister and Minister of Health for Canada. In December 2003, he was appointed to the Health Council of Canada. He is the founding Assistant Deputy Minister of the Population and Public Health Branch of Health Canada. He was appointed to the Roy Romanow’s Commission on the Future of Health Care in Canada in 2002 as a Special Advisor to Commissioner Romanow.

For more on Dr. McMurtry and his research on the health effects of wind turbines, go to http://www.epaw.org/documents.php?lang=en&article=n4 .

The rally is scheduled to begin at 1 PM at the Haskell Library and Opera House, which straddles the international boundary.
