Turbine problems

Western Mail, www.walesonline.co.uk 28 April 2012

This is an open letter to all political parties: Plaid, Conservative, Liberal, Labour, Independents and People First.

Since Alltwalis wind farm opened two years ago – people who live nearby, some three miles away, have been suffering from wind turbine noise (sleep deprivation, headaches, nausea, panic attacks and palpitations amongst other things) and flicker, despite the developers’ initial reassurances that their would be none.

Over a thousand local people signed a petition so that their evidence would be heard by the Welsh Government’s Petitions Committee, who showed full support for their case and have promised to do whatever they can to help them to be able to sleep.

RES’s application to build 21 giant turbines on nearby Mynydd Llanllwni has met with fierce local opposition. Carmarthenshire County Council officials have said that a repeat of the Alltwalis experience should be avoided. They are your councillors who will decide if this inhumane and therefore surely illegal experience will be avoided or repeated – councillors usually follow their party line. You owe it to the people to tell them simply and honestly where you stand before May 3, here on this platform
