E.On reduces Corsbie Moor wind farm proposals again

Plans for a wind farm on Corsbie Moor in the Borders have been reduced for a second time by developers.

E.On originally looked at building up to 21 turbines on the site between Gordon and Lauder.

However, that was subsequently reduced to 12 when a planning application was submitted last year.

The company said it had now cut that figure to nine having “considered all the views from the local community regarding the proposed wind farm”.

Matilda Urie, project developer at E.On, said: “We’ve carefully redesigned this scheme and believe that the Corsbie Moor site can produce a significant amount of renewable energy using a smaller number of turbines.

“These would be the same height as those in the original application and have a capacity of up to 27 MW.

“We believe that Corsbie Moor is an excellent site for a wind farm and could generate enough electricity to meet the needs of around 15,000 homes.”

The company plans to submit its revised proposals to Scottish Borders Council and will also be holding public information days in Westruther and Lauder next month.
