Windfarm proposal revealed by EDF

North Devon Journal, www.thisisnorthdevon.co.uk 19 April 2012

A new windfarm could be built on the outskirts of Holsworthy.

EDF Energy Renewables is looking to site up to seven 126.5m turbines at Hollow Panson near Chapman’s Well.

The firm says the proposed development could power around 7,300 homes.

Hollow Panson lies to the east of the A388 and includes both agricultural land and woodland.

EDF Energy Renewables will be submitting a scoping report to Torridge District Council outlining details of the proposed wind farm.

The company will be applying for planning permission to install a temporary meteorological monitoring mast.

Tim Wheeler, development manager onshore wind at EDF Energy Renewables, said: “We are still in the very early stages of developing a detailed proposal for this site and will be carrying out further investigative work over the coming months.

“This will help to provide more information ahead of our public consultation events.

“Local opinion is very important to us and we will be giving the local community every opportunity to discuss and consult on our proposals for Hollow Panson.”

The company says it will be setting up a free phone information line.

A planned website dedicated to the proposed windfarm scheme will also make information about the project widely available.
