Stony Creek Wind Farm delayed

The Daily News, thedailynewsonline.com 18 April 2012

ORANGEVILLE – Invenergy has formally notified state officials of its decision to delay major construction on the planned Stony Creek Wind Farm.

The firm informed the state Public Service Commission on Friday, citing uncertainty over the federal Production Tax Credit. The legislation will expire Dec. 31 if an extension doesn’t occur.

“In light of the critical importance of the current PTC deadline, we’ve carefully reviewed the regulatory requirements for Stony Creek, and based on our experience building similar projects in New York, we’ve concluded that the Dec. 31, 2012, deadline creates an extremely tight schedule,” said Director of Business Development Eric Miller in a letter to the PSC. “Accordingly, we’ve decided to limit construction until Congress extends the PTC.”

Invenergy has received approval to build the 59-turbine Stony Creek Wind Farm.
