Donald Trump is planning to launch a protest outside the Scottish Parliament over plans to build an 11-turbine wind farm near his resort at Menie in Aberdeenshire.
The US tycoon’s organisation has distributed 5000 leaflets calling for a march against “the industrialisation of the Scottish countryside” in two weeks to coincide with a meeting of the Scottish Government’s renewables committee.
Mr Trump has launched a crusade against wind power after learning that the wind farm would be visible from the £750 million golf resort he is building in the north-east of Scotland.
It comes after he said that the greatest gift he could give his Scottish mother Mary Macleod would be “to stop this atrocity”.
The march would go down the Royal Mile before hearing a speech from the billionaire outside the doors of Holyrood.
George Sorial, the executive vice-president of the Trump organisation, said: “The more we become involved in this controversy we have heard a voice, becoming a scream, objecting to these ridiculous proposals for wind farms.”
The Scottish Government has set a target of generating all of the country’s energy from renewable sources by 2020.
