Huron-Kinloss council supports Clarington wind power moratorium

Huron-Kinloss council approved a resolution from the municipality of Clarington for a moratorium on wind turbines. The resolution stated:
The Ontario Federation of Agriculture which is Ontario’s largest farm organization has asked Premier Dalton McGuinty and the provincial government to suspend the building of industrial wind turbines across the province.
Dozens of municipalities across the province have repeatedly asked for a moratorium on the construction of industrial wind turbines until questions such as health concerns of people living in proximity to the industrial wind turbines, proper setbacks of wind turbines, devaluation of neighbouring properties, decimation of the rural landscape and destruction of wildlife habitats are properly studies and addressed.
The motion is being forwarded to the AMO (Association of Municipalities of Ontario), to all municipalities in the province of Ontario, Premier McGuinty, local members of Provincial Parliament, the Minister of Energy Chris Bentley and the Minister of Environment Jim Bradley.
Enabling Accessibility Fund Application
Huron-Kinloss Township staff received notice that they were not successful in their application for the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAP) for $50,000 to make Lucknow Town Hall barrier free with the installation of an elevator.
Noise bylaw exemption Huron-Kinloss Township council granted exemption to Section 3.9 of the Noise Bylaw 2005-101 as amended to the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) for the rehabilitation of Highway 21 from May 1 to Nov. 30. This will allow for surface rehabilitation involving milling and paving operations, culvert repairs and replacements of traffic classification counting stations. The work will occur between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m., seven days per week.
Grass cutting -Whitechurch and Kinlough Cemetery
Huron-Kinloss Township council approved the hiring of Gordon Dale for grass cutting in Whitechurch at a cost of $90 per cut for the 2012 season.
Huron-Kinloss council also approved the hiring of Don McFarlan for grass cutting at the Kinlough Cemetery at a cost of $225 for the 2012 season.
