Wind farms are a no – Staff

Industrial size wind energy facilities proposed for the region will ruin Southern Grampians Shire Council’s chances to be the “most liveable provincial community”.

This is according to Southern Grampian’s Landscape Guardians president, Keith Staff, who is doing all he can to prevent the Penshurst wind energy facility from being built within three kilometres of his property.

“The turbines should not be located anywhere near the Penshurst township and the many historic properties in the area,” he said.

“I am in charge of my life and have the choice of where I live. This will not be next to an industrial size wind facility. If the Penshurst proposal goes ahead, which is highly unlikely, we will consider selling up and moving away from the area, as others will be doing.”
