Residents last night raised safety fears about wind turbines near their homes.
Michael Rock, of Roydhouse in Shelley, led a delegation of concerned villagers to Huddersfield Town Hall yesterday.
He spoke out about Endurance turbines after one collapsed in Shropshire.
“There are planning applications to erect two more of these Endurance turbines,” he said.
“Do the council agree that there’s currently an unresolved health and safety issue with free-standing turbines in exposed Pennine locations?”
Kirklees leader Clr Mehboob Khan told the Shelley Action Group that turbine collapses had been “freak occurrences” caused by “unprecedented weather”.
The Labour man promised to write to the group to provide more detail of the council’s stance.
