Greenspan Energy accuses un-named wind farm objectors of ‘threatening behaviour’

Appeal document for Cairnmore extension cites ‘threatening behaviour’ and ‘canvassing effort’ by objectors, but provides no evidence. CAWT uncovers evidence of canvassing effort by Greenspan Energy employees.
Greenspan Energy has submitted an appeal to Aberdeenshire Council’s Local Review Body for the refusal of their proposed 5 x 81m high wind turbine extension at Cairnmore, near Rhynie.
The application was refused planning consent in January 2012.
The proposed extension received 33 letters of support, and 233 letters of objection.
In their appeal document Greenspan Energy state:
“Of the letters of objection, only around a third were sent from residents in the local area. The remainder were sent from addresses in other parts of Scotland, England and places as far afield as Switzerland, Denmark and South Africa, which points strongly towards a canvassing effort by the objection group.”
“As with all wind turbine applications, the small minority who are against the development are the most vocal, and try to drown out the quieter majority who are in support.”
“It is unfortunate that the efforts of a few objectors can artifically skew the picture of support for the development. Greenspan abstained from attempting to encourage those in support of the development to write in, when the objection group resorted to threatening behaviour towards those wishing to support the development.”
