Plans for a wind farm on green belt land at Barton-on-Sea have come under fire.
Temporis Wind Ltd is considering building a 250ft tall turbine between Milford Road and Angel Lane. It would generate enough energy every year to supply nearly 400 homes.
The proposed site is roughly 200 yards from the nearest house, but a number of local residents are concerned that the structure would be a blot on the landscape.
Jonathan Husbands said: “This is going to ruin a piece of green belt between New Milton and Milford.
“Already another company, Eneco, has announced plans for an offshore wind farm that would be visible from our coastline.
“Not content with spoiling the beautiful outlook from our beaches and clifftops, these monstrosities are preparing to march ashore, helped by the massive subsidies that we all pay for in our inflated fuel bills.”
Protesters are also angry that the Temporis proposal had already cleared the first hurdle before they got to know about it.
New Forest planners have decided there is no need for a special impact study, so Temporis will not be required to undertake a detailed environmental assessment if and when it submits a formal planning application.
