Wind farm questions go unanswered

The president of the Southern Grampians Landscape Guardians, Keith Staff, says he is disappointed at the local council’s response to recent questions.
Mr Staff this week asked the Southern Grampians Council to disclose the rates and charges paid by the operators of the Oakland Hills Wind Farm and if any of that money was used to pay for monitoring.
The council refused to disclose the figures for reasons of confidentiality.
Mr Staff says there needs to be transparency about the interactions of local government and wind farm proponents.
“We have no idea what meetings go on behind closed doors, what they might be about, what promises are about,” he said.
“There’s a big lack, I believe, of a degree of openness, honesty and transparency.”
