Allegany board tables vote on wind farm moratorium

ALLEGANY – The Allegany Town Board once again tabled a vote on a moratorium that would have put a hold on all activities for a proposed wind turbine farm during its Tuesday meeting.

The session, held at the Allegany Senior Center, attracted a smaller crowd than previous meetings held on the same topic. Town Supervisor John Hare opened the meeting by proposing to table the moratorium until the board can thoroughly review all of the public’s written comments submitted on the issue.

“I know most of you are here expecting a discussion on the wind moratorium … we got a lot of input and a lot came in late at the close of business on Friday,” Mr. Hare explained. “I know for myself, I’m still going through (the written comments) and I’m also spending a little bit of time listening to the complete testimony on the tape” from the public hearing.

“This is an important decision … and before we make this decision, I would like to spend more time with what has been submitted,” Mr. Hare added.

The rest of the board was in agreement with Mr. Hare and voted unanimously to table the issue.
