Experts still working on stone mystery

Experts are no further towards finding out the significance of stones discovered at Mynydd y Betws wind farm, the local Assembly member has said.
The find has so far halted further development of a wind farm at the site.
Plaid Cymru’s Rhodri Glyn Thomas made the comments after questioning the Welsh Heritage Minister Huw Lewis.
Mr Lewis told the Assembly a study into the so-called “stone row” would take another month.
Mr Thomas said: “Following the minister’s response to my questioning, it appears we are no further on in achieving a concrete statement regarding the significance of the items uncovered on Betws mountain.
“I’m pleased the minister has agreed to ensure a definitive statement is made on the value of the findings, and the statement will take into consideration the previous concerns raised by Cadw regarding the historical value of the site as a whole.”
The 15 wind turbine development was thrown into doubt after archaeologists claimed they had found a 5,000-year-old neolithic stone row which crossed the site’s access road. Three stones have been removed by heritage group Cadw for assessment.
