Wind farm at Moy gets the go-ahead

A 20-turbine wind farm on the Moy Estate, south of Inverness, has been given the green light by the Scottish Government today.

The planning application for the project was submitted to Highland Council in April last year then referred to Scottish Government in November following the council’s failure to reach a decision within the statutory timescale of four months.

In December, the council’s Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey Planning Applications Committee ruled it out because of the potential visual impact from the A9.

But today, the Scottish Government gave the go-ahead for Carbon Free Moy to begin the wind farm.

Dominic Farrugia, director of Carbon Free Moy said: “Over the last two years, we have worked hard to ensure that the design and scale of this wind farm is appropriate to the location and the environment, and that issues raised by the local communities during our extensive consultation were addressed.

“We will continue to engage with local community as we prepare for the construction phase.”
