Burning money

The Recorder (Greenfield, Mass.) | 1 March 2012

Recently in your paper, you had an article about the solar power at the Rowe Elementary School. It was stated that the total cost of the solar power installation was $156,000. Rowe paid about $4,000 and we, the taxpayers, chipped in $152,000 through stimulus money. The past year it has produced 21,000 kilowatt hours of electricity for the school and has saved $3,000 of electricity.

If my math is correct, it will take 52 years before they will see a profit from this solar power. That does not sound like a good investment to me.
