‘Double payment’ claim rejected

Graham Crawford, Banffshire Journal, www.banffshire-journal.co.uk 22 February 2012

Claims that wind turbine developers could double the millions of pounds they receive for payments by simply putting in separate rather than group applications were rejected this week.

Opponents of wind turbines point out that the nature of feed-in tarriff payments means that a developer could receive twice as much subsidy for a single structure than it would for two together.

They fear this might encourage the setting up of individual companies for each turbine – with a little bit of extra paperwork effectively reaping double the rewards for the same amount of energy produced.
