Update: Resolution over Brown County turbine issues

Brown County residents who live near wind turbines are taking their fight to county leaders.

A meeting was held Wednesday night to discuss a resolution for some Glenmore residents who say the turbines are making them physically ill.

It was determined Wednesday that the Brown County Board will ask the state for emergency funding for families in the Town of Glenmore who say they are suffering adverse affects from wind turbines.

After some challenges in the wording of the resolution from the Health and Human Services Committee, the measure was approved unanimously.

This means the board will now simply be asking the state for money to help families relocate after they say they’ve had to leave their homes after getting sick from low frequency noises coming from the turbines.

Advocates from Wisconsin’s Citizens Coalition says it’s a small victory in a long battle for safety.

Some board members were initially concerned because no official studies have been done giving concrete proof that turbines are causing the illnesses.

Now, the state legislature can either approve or deny the request for funding.
