More support for wind ban

by Bayshore News Staff, www.bayshorebroadcasting.ca 16 February 2012

Two more municipalities are backing a call from Arran Elderslie Council for a moratorium on wind turbine developments.

Saugeen Shores and Brockton Councils have both endorsed the motion.

Brockton Councillor Anne Louise Gibbons says the province must address the health and safety concerns associated with wind energy.

Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith hopes the provincial government will finally listen to the concerns about the Green Energy Act.

Many landowners in Bruce County have been approached by wind companies in search of land to lease.

There are now more than 80 municipalities in Ontario who have called for a wind farm moratorium.

Arran Elderslie is also urging municipalities to stand up and walk out on the Premier during his talk at the upcoming ROMA and Good Roads Conference.

But Brockton and Saugeen Shores Councils say they will not take part in the walk out.
