Do wind turbines cause health impacts?

Across the street from Nantucket High School, just a few hundred feet away from the 100 kilowatt wind turbine installed in 2010, Irean Schreiber says she’s living in agony.

She can’t sleep, and she complains of an accelerated heart rate, vertigo, dizziness and headaches. After numerous hospital visits and appointments with cardiologists, neurologists and other physicians, Schreiber still had no explanation for what was happening to her. But at a dinner party last year, another physician told her to look into so-called wind turbine syndrome.

“I looked online and it was me, textbook,” Schreiber said. “There it was, right there. People don’t know about this, so when you say something about it, they poo-poo it. But It’s real to me and my symptoms aren’t going away.”
