An energy company is holding a series of public meetings in the Isle of Man to discuss plans to create a large windfarm in the Irish Sea.

Centrica plc is planning the development about 12 miles off the Manx coast, outside Manx territorial waters.

The energy firm was awarded wind farm development rights for the Irish Sea zone, in January 2010.

The Centrica information days will take place on 21, 22 and 23 February at various venues across the Isle of Man.

A company spokesman said: “We are holding public information days to explain the work we have done so far, to answer any questions people may have and to hear any constructive comment on our proposals.”

On 21 February the meeting will be held at Ramsey Town Hall, on 22 February at Scoill Phurt le Moirrey in Port St Mary. Both events will run between 14:00 GMT and 20:00 GMT.

The final meetings on 23 February are to be held in Douglas at the Strand Shopping Centre, from 11:00 GMT to 16:30 GMT and then at the Java Lounge, from 18:30 GMT until 20:30 GMT.
