An appeal against a council’s decision to refuse planning permission for 10 wind turbines to be erected in a village has been upheld.

The Planning Inspectorate announced this morning (Thursday) that it has granted planning permision for 10 turbines to be built on land to the north of Edworth Road in Langford, after the Co-Operative group successfully mounted an appeal against Central Bedfordshire Council’s decision to turn the application down.

In The Planning Inspectorate’s report it says: “The proposal would significantly change the character of the local landscape, but only within a limited area and not in an unacceptably harmful way.”

It continues: “The proposal would not cause unacceptable harm to residents’ living conditions, to the character and appearance of the local landscape and heritage features, or to enjoyment of the countryside.”
