Fairhaven shouldn’t be intimidated by developer’s threat of legal action

In response to the comments by Gordon Deane in The Standard-Times (Jan. 10), I would just like to say the people of Fairhaven will not back down to your threats. You see, we understand the health effects that these massive turbines will have on the residents in this town.
I and many others feel the health and well being of our residents is the most important issue right now. We want this stopped. I have been reading articles written by doctors and other professionals from all over the world. The health problems are serious. These turbines are just too close.
When the turbine construction was stopped in this town years ago, the developer just brought them to Falmouth. Now look at what is happening there. People are ill, the turbine has been shut down and Falmouth has to figure out what to do with two turbines already standing.
If the developer brings legal action against the town, where will they build next? Do they think other towns that are watching what is going on in Fairhaven will be standing in line to work with them? I think not!
Let’s talk about legal action. What happens when we have two 400-foot turbines up? People will get sick. Children and teachers in the new Wood School may become sick because of infrasound.
Values of homes drop dramatically near the turbine, like anyone can afford that to happen with people already underwater.
Then the town may face legal action from the people they are supposed to protect. Stop this project now. Look at all of the data presented. Massachusetts has the weakest setback regulations in the country. Stop this project now!
