BUCKLAND – An international renewable energy company is considering northern Auglaize County as the potential site for a 100 megawatt wind farm. There will be a public meeting for discussion of the project.
The meeting will happen at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Buckland Community Center.
U.S. Mainstream Renewable Power Inc. has completed preliminary studies for the project in portions of Duchouquet, Logan and Moulton townships, Buckland Mayor Dan Lambert said. The company will continue analysis through 2012 to determine the wind speeds and overall feasibility for a wind generation project. It is also discussing lease opportunities with local land owners regarding their land appropriate for wind turbine development.
Mainstream, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, has established wind and solar energy projects in eight countries on four continents. The company’s U.S. headquarters is located in Chicago.
