Fresh plans for another 10 wind turbines

Scunthorpe Telegraph, www.thisisscunthorpe.co.uk 12 January 2012

Plans have been announced for ten wind turbines to be built near Hemswell Cliff.

RWE npower renewables, one of the UK’s leading renewable energy developers, is investigating the potential for a wind farm on a site north of the village.

The proposed wind farm could bring a number of jobs and power around 11,000 homes.

Rob Warren, Renewables Developer from RWE npower renewables, said: “A report from Renewable UK has found the renewable energy sector has the potential to create over 90,000 jobs in the next ten years.

“As we’re still at a relatively early stage of the development process, we cannot say at this stage how many jobs the proposed Hemswell Cliff wind farm could generate.”

The Community Benefit Fund will provide West Lindsey District Council with a sum of money dependant on the number of megawatts generated from the wind farm once it is in operation.

Mr Warren said: “As the project is still early in the process, we are unable to commit to a specific amount in terms of a community benefit package in relation to the proposed wind farm near Hemswell Cliff.

“The size of the fund does depend on the installed capacity of the wind farm, which has not yet been defined.”

Consultation has now opened in order for people to voice their opinions.

The public exhibition will be held at Hemswell Court, Lancaster Green, Hemswell Cliff, on Friday, January 27 from 4pm until 7pm and on Saturday, January 28 from 10am until 4pm, where people will be able to comment on the plans.
