Towering turbines deadline for Hunterston

Local residents only have a week to go in which to object to a towering wind farm testing site at Hunterston with turbines which will be 195.5m high.

Fairlie Community Councillor John Riddell warned that the three turbines will be 200 feet higher than Goldenberry Hill, twice the size of the Clydeport cranes at Hunterston, and 75m higher than Cumbrae. It was stated at the Fairlie Council meeting that only seven public objections have been made to NAC concerning the plans.

Fairlie Community Council objected to the proposals by SSE Renewables on the basis of visual impact, noise, and being contrary to planning policies. Scottish Natural Heritage have objected, while Largs Community Council have supported the project. The NAC website has full details
