Plans for wind farm submitted

The Inverness Courier, www.inverness-courier.co.uk 11 January 2012

Plans for a 13-turbine wind farm south of Inverness have been submitted to Highland Council.

West Coast Energy has already pledged to donate up to £130,000 a year to Inverness College UHI if the project at Craggie Farm near Daviot goes ahead. Opponents, however, have branded the offer as “corporate bribery”.

The application, which has been submitted along with an environmental statement, also seeks permission for associated access tracks, a construction compound, a sub-station, two 100 metre high lattice towers and a monitoring mast. It also contains proposals for additional public access.

The turbines at the tip of the blade would be 115 metres high while the wind farm would be able to generate 32.5 megawatts.
