Hollyford windfarm appealed

A windfarm given the go-ahead by South Tipperary County Council, has been appealed to An Bord Pleanala.

Ecopower Developments Ltd. was given the green light to build two wind turbines, with an overall height of up to 126m, along with access roads and ancillary site works, at Glenough Upper on November 25th.

The full address is given as Glenough Upper/Lackenacreena/Foilmacduff/Glenpaudeen/Glencarbry/, Hollyford. The Council attached 17 conditions to the development. An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was submitted with the application.

The plans have attracted considerable local interest. Submissions and observations were lodged with the Council by some 13 interested parties. These include Ute Schulmeister, Glenough Windfarm Limited, Dublin; Julia McHugh, Foilmacduff; Michael Ryan, Reafadda; Noreen Higgins-McHugh, Foilmacduff; Martin and Noreen McHugh, Foilmacduff; Pat O’Brien, Foilmacduff; Anne Shanahan, Hollyford; Tom Cooney, Corporate Affairs, Irish Aviation Authority; Gillian Kelly, TowerCom Ltd, Dublin; Inland Fisheries Ireland; Joseph Carolan, The Mine House, Reafadda; Mary Anne Ryan, Reafadda; and the Department of the Environment.

On December 22nd, Noreen McHugh, and others, appealed the Council’s decision to the state planning appeals board. A decision is due on or before May 4th.
