Lowell dispute is about property rights

www.timesargus.com 3 January 2012

To all of the people who still think that the people who have been protesting on Lowell Mountain are just trying to stop the wind turbines from being built, I want to let you know there is a lot more going on. They are trying to get people aware of the corruption and lies behind the project as well. There is a land dispute involved and instead of resolving the issue, GMP has decided it doesn’t matter. It is now tied up in the courts. Part of the project is on land that Don Nelson has paid taxes on since he purchased the property back in the late 1960s – is this fair? GMP then decided that they needed to use more of Mr. Nelson’s property as a safety zone, so they got a restraining order preventing them from using around 180 acres of their property for the fall. Mr. Nelson was unable to bring in the wood he had cut for the winter because it was posted – is this fair?

I ask you to think the next time one of your rights is taken from you, would you want someone to speak up?
