Hearing set for Bourne turbine project

HEATHER WYSOCKI, www.capecodonline.com 4 January 2012

BOURNE – The Cape Cod Commission’s discussion of the New Generation Wind project has been put on hold, and a procedural hearing has been scheduled instead.

The hearing by the full commission was originally scheduled for November, then moved to Thursday.

A procedural hearing means that no testimony will be taken and no discussion will occur, according to the commission’s website, www.capecodcommission.org.

A new date for a full hearing has not been scheduled.

In November, a five-member subcommittee of the county regulatory board formally voted not to recommend the four-turbine project proposed for the Bournedale area. Though the proposed project conforms with the town’s local comprehensive plan, subcommittee members determined the project had more probable detriments than benefits. The subcommittee also determined that some aspects of the four-turbine project did not conform to Bourne’s zoning bylaws.
