Despite voting to recommend approval for two 130-metre wind turbines six months ago, Eye Town Council this week performed a U-turn and decided to recommend refusal for the very same turbines.
Wind Power Renewables’ bid for the two wind turbines on the side of the runway at Eye Airfield saw seven councillors vote in favour of approving them and just three against doing so at May’s meeting.
The application was then briefly withdrawn due to a misunderstanding with the Ministry of Defence.
At the town council’s December meeting on Wednesday, many councillors admitted to having changed their mind when it came to voting again on the turbines, and resultantly, nine voted in favour of recommending them for refusal, with just two members voting for approval.
