The Town of Richfield board has put the brakes on plans to build six wind turbines in the area.
The Town Board met last night to vote on an agreement to give the go-ahead to the project, but instead learned of a lawsuit filed against the project.
Dozens of people in opposition of the plans packed the meeting room as Douglas Zamelis, an attorney representing the group, informed the board that the lawsuit had been filed in supreme court. That lawsuit is to overturn the recent approvals of the project.
“I want to put the board on notice that you, right now, do not have the jurisdiction to vote on this until you satisfy your obligations under the State Environmental Quality Review Act,” Zamelis told the board Monday night.
Due to the lawsuit, the Town of Richfield Board has tabled a resolution to move forward with its wind turbine project.
