Wisconsin Supreme Court to take on Bent Tree Wind Farm case

ABC 6 News, kaaltv.com 15 December 2011

The Wisconsin Supreme Court has agreed to decide whether regulators properly approved the Bent Tree Wind Farm in Albert Lea, Minn.

Two groups representing energy consumers have filed a petition against the Public Service Commission.

Wisconsin regulators gave Wisconsin Power and Light permission to build the $450 million farm in Albert Lea in 2009.

“From our standpoint, we filed what was needed, went through the process,” said Alliant Energy Spokesperson Steve Schultz. “It was approved by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin and later approved by the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission as well.”

Shultz says the wind farm won’t shut down regardless of the court’s decision. Commercial operation started February 2011.
