Energy body calls for help

RenewableUK, the trade associate for wind and tidal power, has initiated an agency hunt to amplify its voice in the national debate about energy policy.

The organisation, formerly known as the British Wind Energy Association, has sent out tender documents to a number of agencies asking them to submit written proposals for an ongoing media relations brief.

The brief comes at a crucial time for the renewable energy industry. Despite commitments from Climate and Energy Secretary Chris Huhne to make the UK the largest market in Europe for offshore wind, reports this week suggested that wind turbine construction was down by half on last year.

A spokesman for RenewableUK said the group was ‘trying to find the right consultancy to help with media support’. It expects to hold pitches during January and make an appointment shortly afterwards.

Earlier this year, the organisation reviewed its public affairs support, appointing to its roster Bellenden, Citigate Dewe Rogerson Public Policy, Edelman and Four Communications.
