165mph storm wrecks a wind turbine

By BEN JACKSON, Environment Editor | The Sun | www.thesun.co.uk

A ferocious 165mph hurricane smashed into Britain yesterday – causing chaos and even destroying a wind turbine.

Hundreds of trains were cancelled, ferries halted and planes grounded as the storm roared in from the Atlantic.

Scotland and the North of England bore the brunt of the winds, which left homes without power, forced schools to close and trapped drivers in floods.

But the rest of the country took a battering as well.
