Senate inquiry recommendations

I read with interest the letter “Real facts” from Ceres project manager Peter Sgardelis (YPCT 29-11-11) regarding the wind farms.
Mr Sgardelis suggests the 2011 senate inquiry into wind farms found “no direct link between adverse health effects and wind turbines”, which is incorrect.
The Australian Senate Inquiry into the Health Effects of Wind Turbines, 23rd June 2011, made many recommendations.
Recommendation number three quotes, “2.69: The Committee recommends that further consideration be given to the development of policy on separation criteria between residences and wind farm facilities”.
It further states under recommendation three, “2.91: The NHMRC’s ‘rapid review’ of the evidence concluded, among other things, that ‘there is currently no published scientific evidence to positively link wind turbines with adverse health effects”.
That statement has been relied on by developers in the wind industry to suggest Australian research has settled the question of any adverse health effects.
However, as stated by Professor Anderson, the NHMRC (National Health and Medical Research Council) is keeping the matter under review and on June 7 the council held a forum in Canberra to further investigate the health impact of wind farms with a view to updating the public statement.
Professor Anderson is the CEO of NHMRC.
