New turbines would be a blot on business claim protest group

A city business has said it will be threatened with closure if plans to build 410 foot tall wind turbines go ahead.

The plans will see 16 wind turbines built between Bozeat, Lavendon and Harrold.

Owners at Lower Farm Stables, Lavendon, are concerned they will have nowhere to ride that is not close to the giant turbines.

Members of the British Horse Society and the livery yard owners both gave evidence at the planning appeal but to no avail.

A campaign group, Bozeat and Lavendon Oppose the Turbines (BLOT), have campaigned for years against numerous proposals.

BLOT chairman, Brian Skittrall, said: “I thought that our evidence was getting a fair hearing at the appeal, but it seems I was sadly mistaken.

“It is blindingly obvious to me that horse owners will not choose to stable their horses where you have to ride close to turbines.

“The Inspector’s decision simply ignores much of the evidence presented by BLOT without explaining why it has not been considered.”
