Opponents of a controversial wind project under construction on Lowell Mountain were arrested yesterday for blocking a road.
Seven people were arrested after they blocked construction vehicles in an area where they believe land ownership is in dispute.
Some of the protesters held signs – a few of which read, “Road closed due to environmental destruction.”
Green Mountain Power is in the process of building a 21 turbine wind-power project on the Lowell ridgeline.
Six of the arrested were protestors but one was a journalist, Chris Braithwaite, publisher of the Barton Chronicle, who was there covering the story. Braithwaite speaks with VPR’s Peter Biello.
