How can wind developers ignore big majority?

Morning Sentinel, www.onlinesentinel.com 1 December 2011

I am a native Mainer. I live in Lexington Township just a few miles from where I grew up.

Two wind developers want to build industrial wind facilities on the mountains surrounding my family’s home.

The majority of the residents in Lexington, Concord and Highland have signed petitions stating we do not want these developments which will tower over our homes and change the character of the communities we live in. In Lexington, over 77 percent of residents have signed in opposition.

I think that’s pretty remarkable.

I would like to see Angus King and Rob Gardiner, and Iberdrola Renewables, abandon any plans to build wind developments in these communities.

And I would like to see Gov. Paul LePage support us, as well.

Seventy-seven percent. How can such a large majority be ignored?
