East Lothian wind turbine plan rejected

East Lothian News, www.eastlothiannews.co.uk 24 November 2011

A controversial plan to erect a 40 metre high wind turbine near Traprain Law, an ancient monument between Haddington and East Linton, was blown away by councillors this week.

Members of East Lothian Council’s Local Review Body unanimously rejected an appeal against an earlier refusal of the application for Standingstone Farm after a visit to the site.

A council spokesman said this was a final decision, as the initial decision to refuse the application had been taken by planners under the council’s scheme of delegation and not decided by the planning committee, so it could not be appealed against to Scottish Ministers.
