Protesters fighting plans to build a wind turbine at a farm near Thorpe Arnold have formed an action group as they look to rally more support.
Applicant Steve Butler wants to install the turbine, which would have a maximum height of 77m to the blade tip, at Hindles Farm – about one-and-a-half kilometres north east of Melton.
But neighbouring residents have raised a whole raft of concerns including visual impact, noise and vibration, impact on local wildlife, reduced property values and potential health risks.
At a meeting in Waltham Village Hall last Wednesday (Nov 16) it was decided to call the action group L.O.L.A (Leave our Landscape Alone) and a formal panel was appointed, with group members voted in to assume various roles.
The group also discussed its action plan including plans to attract more support by designing, printing and distributing posters and information about wind turbines to a wider audience.
The planning application will be decided by Melton Council in due course.
