SHELBURNE FALLS – Loud applause erupted from the audience at the end of a three-hour Shelburne Zoning Board of Appeals hearing as applicants Mount Massaemet Windfarm Inc. withdrew their application for a special permit.
Throughout the hearing, the applicants were criticized both by various town boards as well as residents for the paucity of information in the project application they had presented. Others in the audience spoke of their fears for falling property values, wildlife impacts and health effects, including Falmouth resident Neil Andersen who had traveled from Falmouth to speak of adverse health impacts experienced by his family and neighbors from a municipally-owned wind turbine located near his home.
