Those who doubt the wisdom of the Cape Cod Commission subcommittee’s decision against supporting the New Generation Wind project are urged to read the commission’s mission statement: “to manage growth, to protect Cape Cod’s unique environment and character and to foster a healthy community for present and future generations.”
In simple terms, this sends a clear message to all developers to “do no harm.” The negative financial impact on surrounding neighborhoods and potential health hazards of this commercial development project would have been catastrophic. All of us who live on Cape Cod need protection from developers who seek to profit at the expense of others. This is why wisdom and understanding were reflected in the subcommittee’s decision.
